The #fridayflash Report – Week 26

Happy Anniversary!

Wordle of Week 26

Wordle Generated via www.wordle.net

This was week 26 of #fridayflash, thus marking our six month anniversary. The #fridayflash Reader’s Contest has successfully concluded. The winners are Jim Wisneski, Donald Conrad, and ganymeder. I’ll be contacting them to arrange delivery of their $10 gift certificates sometime this weekend.

The Best of 2009 #fridayflash Anthology has been announced, and we already have four stories submitted. And speaking of stories, we have 46 on queue for you so far this week. Please give a warm welcome to our four debut authors this week, Kat Del Rio, Peggy McFarland, Sam, and Jim Dempsey. If your story is not on the list visit the Collector and enter the details. I’ll add late arrivals as they roll in.

You may have noticed a change at the Collector. We’ve trimmed down the visible columns to make it more viewable, added a hover over so you can see all the details once you’ve added a story, and created a new page called FridayFlash Master List. If you click on that link you will generate a page with clickable links to the stories that have been entered into the Collector as of your visit. That way, if you’re the antsy type, you don’t have to wait around for The #fridayflash Report to come out to start delving into your reading list.

Oops, Jon I forgot to enter my story in the collector. Is it too late?

It’s never too late, Dan. I do a sweep through the collector several times during the weekend to add late arrivals. I’m going out tonight, but I’ll look for yours tomorrow morning and add it to the list.

I think there is an impression that horror dominates #fridayflash. But if one studies the above Wordle you’ll notice it is less prevalent than Slice of Life, Humor, and Literary. I’ve done a similar Wordle on last week’s pieces, and had similar results. It just goes to show that there is quite a diverse group of writers doing #fridayflash, and there should always be something to appeal to everyone. I am really glad we added genre to the report. It makes discovery so much richer. Thanks to CliveM for suggesting it.

  3. Woo, I’m top of the list :-D
Well, unless Dan pips me to the post!

  4. The Wordle for #fridayflash is interesting. I wouldn’t have thought it slanted toward SoL like it does. Excellent thing you’ve got going here, and I personally would like to thank you. It’s been fun.
